Nice to Meet You!
Hey there! My name is Isabella Ramos, and I graduated from Walsh University in 2023 with a degree in education. I decided to do a year of service as a Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program to figure out what’s next for me! I have a strong calling to ministry, social justice, and advocacy, and in the fall, I’ll be heading to Pittsburgh Theological Seminary to further equip me for a future of ministry! I can’t wait to share the highlights of my YAV year with you!
What is a YAV?
A Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) is a young adult, typically between the ages of 19 and 30, who serves for a year in a faith-based service program through the Presbyterian Church (USA). YAVs live in intentional community, engage in meaningful work with local partners, and focus on spiritual and vocational discernment. The program has both national and international sites, with placements in areas focused on social justice, poverty alleviation, education, and church ministry. YAVs commit to simple living, cross-cultural learning, and growing in their faith while serving others. It’s a transformative experience that challenges participants to deepen their understanding of justice, service, and their own calling in the world.
